What are Lash Extensions?
Lash extensions provide length, volume and lift to natural lashes by adding additional synthetic lashes to suit your individual tastes. Our beauticians are extensively trained to produce the most expertly applied lashes for a natural and well-suited appearance.
No. You won’t feel any pain while having your eyelash extensions applied and if applied correctly, you shouldn’t feel them at all.
At Beauty Secret, having your eyelash extensions applied is a relaxing affair. You’ll lie down, with your eyes closed, under a warm blanket and music playing. You may even drift off.
Depending on what kind of eyelash extensions you’re having, one or more individual, very fine synthetic lash extensions are dipped in a tiny bit of special adhesive and attached to your individual natural lash, one by one, ensuring your natural lashes are not stuck together.
We have many different styles of eyelash extensions. This allows us to fully customize lash extensions to your own expectation. Lash extensions can look as natural as possible or as dramatic as possible but at Beauty Secret we aim to give you the most natural and complementary lashes to suit your face.
You can have anything from 1 to 18 individual lash extensions attached to each of your natural lashes. Lash extensions are different lengths, curls and thickness, which gives us thousands of possibilities to personalise lash extensions correctly to your eye shape and natural lash length, as well as any occasion.
Our natural lashes constantly grow and fall, just the same as the hair on our heads. The life of one natural lash is around 3 months. We have anything between 80-120 natural lashes on each upper eyelid and lose between 2-5 each day.
For example:
You have 100 lashes on one eye and lose 3 natural lashes a day. You have lash extension done, so all 100 lashes have extension on.
You may lose 21 lashes a week. In three weeks, that’s 63 lashes. If those lashes have extensions, your lashes can begin to look sparse.
If you would like to keep your lash extensions looking their best, you should use lash infills.
How often do we need lash infills?
Infills are usually every 3 -4 weeks.
This depends on few factors:
- How quickly your lashes grow and shed
- The number of natural lashes you have
- Your lifestyle, for example if you use a sauna, swim or wear make-up make-up wear.
No. Correctly applied lash extensions will not damage your natural lashes. What can damage your natural lashes is improper aftercare, rubbing and pulling of lash extensions and wearing mascara on lash extensions, using harsh products or even stress.
- Avoid getting your lash extensions wet for the first 24 hours after application
- After 24 hours, adhesive is completely fixed, and lash extensions are waterproof – but excessive swimming, sweating or sauna use can affect the longevity of lash extensions
- Do not rub or pull your lashes
- Do not sleep on your face (this is most common reason for loosing lash extensions prematurely, usually from the outer corner of eyes)
- Do not use mascara on your lash extensions
- Do not use oily products near your eyelashes
- If you put make up on your eyes, take it off with water-based make up removers and be careful around your eyelashes, not to pull or damage them
- Be careful near heat, such as opening a hot oven or lighting a cigarette, as heat can damage your lash extensions
- Wash your lash extensions daily.
- Wash your lash extensions daily. Use special lash extension cleanser and a soft brush to get right between lashes. The best brush is small with soft bristles.
- Use foam lash cleanser as this can easy penetrate lashes.
- With soft top-to-bottom movement on your lashes with the brush, clean all lashes. Do not go side to side with the brush.
- Keep your eye closed.
- When clean, rinse your lashes with clean water.
- Be very gentle.
- Dab them dry with a clean towel or paper towel and brush with a clean mascara wand.
- Let them dry naturally, do not use a hair drier as heat from hair drier can loosen the curl on your lash extensions.
