About Microneedling
What is Microneedling?
Microneedling is simple, safe, efficient and minimally invasive therapeutic technique using a special Derma Pen. The pen contains 12 very fine micro needles that move at great speed up and down to create micro-injuries, encouraging the production of collagen and elastin – the skin’s natural youth-giving ingredients. During treatment the therapist moves the Derma Pen in coordinated movements, to create microchannels on the upper layer of the skin which also act as waterways to transport specially-designed products deep within the skin.
Microneedling can be performed on all types of skin to treat a wide range of skin issues including wrinkles, scars, pigmentation, enlarged pores, stretch marks and age spots on the hands. It can be used to revitalize tired skin and even out skin tone. Microneedling is also a great treatment for hair loss.
Treatment is not performed on people under the age of 18. For young people over age of 18, microneedling can be done in order to reduce sebum production and pore narrowing, as well as removing marks and acne scars.
Treatment results last for 6 months and, with use of adequate home care, even longer. While we cannot stop the natural ageing process, we can significantly slow it down and visually improve the appearance of the skin, and then continue to maintain the achieved results.
With the use of local anaesthetic in the form of cream, pain and discomfort during treatment is minimised, so that it is virtually painless. After treatment your skin will look and feel like mild sunburn. This usually passes completely between 24 and 48 hours after the treatment.
Treatment lasts between 1 – 1.5 hours, depending on the treated area.
For a better and longer-lasting result, a series of three treatments is recommended. Treatments are done in 10 to 14-day intervals.
Redness is present and inevitable after microneedling treatment. This usually passes completely between 24 hours and 48 hours after the treatment.
Very often the results are visible immediately after the treatment, especially for dry and dehydrated skin. Since epidermal cell renewal takes about 28 days, we can expect the ultimate treatment effects to be visible after that period. Skin continues rejuvenating after this point, with collagen production continuing up to three months after treatment.
Yes. After 30 days (depending on what is done on the face).
This treatment can be an extraordinary addition to other aesthetic procedures such as filler treatment, Botox, chemical peeling and surgical lifting. Regular treatments considerably postpone the use of aggressive surgical methods.
Microneedling should not be performed when the following are present: excess acne, keloid scars, autoimmune diseases, blood coagulation disorder, bacterial skin infections, skin diseases, open wounds and/or non-epithelialized skin lesions, such as chronic wounds.
